Big Bada Boom
Jun. 2nd, 2010 07:14 pmIt’s done! My KradamBigBang story, clocking in at over 40,000 words, is done! I got it in under the (extended) deadline, and it feels SO GOOD to have it off my desk. My story has been claimed by a fabulous artist, too:
xdoyoufalltoox has signed on to create a piece of original art to accompany the story, and based on her previous work, I cannot wait to see what she comes up with! I’m eagerly awaiting the posting schedule at KradamBigBang to learn my assigned posting date. The stories are going up throughout July-August.
Meanwhile, here are three things I’ve learned from my first BigBang experience:
In closing, OMG KradamBigBang with

Meanwhile, here are three things I’ve learned from my first BigBang experience:
- Deadlines make me more productive, yay! I haven’t written fiction on a deadline in years, and the enforced timeframe really helped me push through my writing blocks. This story would’ve taken me well over 2 months without a deadline.
- Next time, sign up earlier. 40k words in 5 weeks is officially too stressful a hobby for me.
- In general, use shorter inspirations. Nearly all the stories I’ve ever written have been epics, so apparently conceiving of short plot bunnies isn’t my strong suit. I need to practice writing shorter stories. Anyone wanna give me a prompt? I’m looking for something between 2,000-10,000 words for my next project. Instead of the 50,000-word Kradam Stalker FBI AU I’ve been outlining that really wants to be written next….
In closing, OMG KradamBigBang with
