You take my breath away with how much you pack into this. There's the undeniable attraction, the intimacy and a certain kind of trust. But what really gets me is the heartbreaking dysfunctional nature of their relationship and the ways they just don't sync, the ways their differences don't complement one another -- like two puzzle pieces that don't quite go together after all, but there's not really another viable place to put either one of them yet, so they're jammed together on the corner of the table. It hurts to witness Brad's self-absorption and casual cruelty and inability to be, I don't know, better. Adam's determination to be positive could be so Pollyanna, but there's that subtle power play and the hint of another kind of determination. This is a beautiful portrayal of "early Adam," with all his strength and insecurity and intoxicating sensuality. Just wonderful.
